It’s very unfortunate incident. Same like what happened with few mobile phones. As li-ion batteries needs proper care for charging and discharging rate and even temperature sensitive, these battery types are dangerous and sometime may result in unfortunate incidence. When bigger the battery pack(Power) it becomes more and more dangerous on such events. Thus using such battery pack in two wheeler and four wheeler need to guide there customer properly about its danger & precaution. Even there is very less change of such incidence as much reliable Battery Management Systems (BMS) today, customer need to informed properly about its use. We hope companies may add some precaution and guidance regarding this issue. Some thought point are,
Customer may instruct to not charge the vehicle indoor
Companies may also needs to do research about proper battery placement to damage minimum to rider in such events.
As its result in fire of battery, one temperature sensor may use to takes various action likes alarm, door opening, disconnection of battery etc.
There should be measure and certification of batteries and their BMS.
Ultimately, EV manufacturer should consider this as more serious issue than any other, they really can do more than we could think.
