//Question concentrates on word “Induction” attached with motor name
Here rotor current produces by an induction effect and needs not to supply any external source to produce it.
//This is not enough for 2-3 marks so let’s add something more
When three phase AC voltage is supplied to mechanically 120 degree apart placed three phase winding, rotating magnetic field will produced.
When this flux linked with short-circuited rotor bar conductors, an emf and thus current will be produced in it.
Thus, conductors will experience a force and rotor will start rotating in the same direction of rotating magnetic field.
This is why this motor named an “Induction Motor” as principle of electromagnetic induction is utilize to eliminate requirement of external rotor supply.
