I think every new language becomes simpler than older one and offers new features. Because that's why we discover new. If one have used C, java, MATLAB for developing software (in any field), they can use Python. However, as I know Python is more useful for computation intensive algorithm like implementation of ANN just because it inculcate predefined function.
I have still not used Python, but as an electrical engineer we can develop software for motor design, converter design with graphics plot and analysis functions, using ANN for prediction or tuning controller, in short we can use for solving differential equations and result display design, interface design and many more applications.
